Pattern for jackets and bag (at long last)!

Hello BagQueen, AnotherYarn, and anyone else who wanted the pattern information on my last post! I'm sorry to be so long in getting this to you. It is gray and miserable here in the Pacific NW and I haven't had the energy to write, let alone clean out the pit that is my craft space in the basement. Let ALONE sew.

But I digress. Here's the information you asked for - let me know if you have questions (or if you use them yourself!).

For the carry-on bag, I used the pattern from Lisa Lam's superb Bag Making Bible. Lisa blogs here and sells her creations here, and I am a rabid new fan of hers. Happy news: she's working on another book. Warning for those of you who click on her blog: her writing is as addictive as her free bag tutorials. I'm walking around saying things are "ace" now. Beware!

For the jacket, I modified what I believe may be a now out-of-print pattern: Butterick 5145. I raised and domed the waist seam in the back, nixed the center back seam, changed the box pleat to knife pleats, and cut down the mandarin collar by more than half, as the collar as drafted is really tall, and my neck isn't. Go on and read the reviews on Sewing Pattern Review to find out what other sewists did with their 5145s.
